It's okay if you haven't heard of BPD before. I hadn't. Not before I was diagnosed with the thing.
I believe that every mental health condition can be summarised by a key statement - this is by no means a defining defintion, more like the game where you describe things with just one word - Borderline Personality Disorder (for lack of better words), can be summaried with, 'I feel all the exact same emotions as you, but I feel everything ten times more.'
Quite a few of the publications out there on this topic, have - of all the chances - found the highly extreme case studies you could possibly find. And you can't blame them. Though just about everyone is affected by BPD (in/directly) nobody talks about it, so of course it'll be the odd cases and tall poppies that stick out for the picking. We all know those stories that are more triggering than helpful, don't we? But though there are some people who love to eat that trash, my psychologist was wise enough to caution me onto only investing time in the stories where we focus on skills, on better identifying and acting out emotions, on how to build 'a life worth living' (that's our motto in group therapy).
I live with BPD. And though I have stories that may shock you, I want to tell you about this life I have created which is worth living. Look out for the #BPDthings, cause they're coming.
