Do or do not. There is no try.

The little weasel who wrote this ridiculously misquoted phrase was probably sitting in his dank office thinking he could motivate the Karate Kid with a light bit of poetry. He was not sitting there thinking about a Nobel thought that would pull an Oscar award and bring world peace to all. He failed to bring the lightness of 'wax on, wax off' and instead delivered an unoriginal piece of dribble that tries to summaries polarized ideals. The quote which is intended to be 'motivating' instead becomes demoralizing.

Let's break it down. To 'do or not' is the summation of a result. It is standing at the finish line, and/or standing at the starting line. To 'try', now that is where you run the race. Unlike Yoda I can't guarantee where I'm going to end up because rather than picking between two paths like Yoda romanticises about, there is only one path in life, and there is only one thing I can guarantee - to go forward. Your all or nothing thinking is unforgiving to the human condition.

Do you think Walt Disney was yarning Yoda thoughts when he was rejected for the 55th time - oh well, I guess it was a 'do not'. No! He said, 'screw em! I'm going to try for another 55 times until I get the answer I'm looking for.' And you know what, he died on top of a monopoly which even includes a piece of Star Wars. How's that for being owned by a trier?

For a quote that tried to be light and breezy about one too many directions, it came off looking like the awkward try-hard. So stop quoting it at me and get some real life wisdom under your belt, you droid.
